Happy Independence Day!

I hope that you take time to celebrate our great nation and reflect on the importance of this holiday. Our country is strong because of the freedoms that we are granted and the opportunities that America presents to its citizens. 

In today's political climate, it is easy to feel anger towards the 'other side' and our differences seem more obvious than ever. It is in these times, however, that we must unite as Americans. Through compassion, respect, and unity we can find the strength and understanding that can pull us through periods of bitter partisanship.

North Carolina and our economy are doing better than ever before and I will remain dedicated to working alongside my colleagues to keep North Carolina headed in a direction that improves the livelihoods and prosperity of all citizens through responsible spending and bipartisanship.

I thank you for the opportunity to serve the people of Franklin and Nash Counties in the General Assembly and I hope that you all have a happy and safe 4th of July.
